“The
CranioSacral System is a core system in the human body. In my view it is
the place where body, mind and spirit reside independently and communally
at the same time.
It
is quite fascinating to consider that all the very deep work is done
within the confines of an anatomically defined physiological system. It
suggests that the CranioSacral System and the techniques involved offer a
bridge between objective science and spiritual healing.
CranioSacral
Therapy accesses the total human being’s self-corrective and
self-healing processes. Further, the therapeutic approach attempts to maximize
patient/client responsibility for their overall well-being.”
John
E Upledger (1995)
This
open workshop is designed for anyone who would like hands-on experience of
the basics of this extraordinary and far-reaching therapy.
For
the complete layperson, the workshop will provide a starter kit of simple
but very useful techniques for home use in many routine health situations
as alternatives to medication. For the healthcare practitioner or student
who may be contemplating professional training this workshop is an ideal
taster and confidence builder. For everyone this workshop provides a
fascinating and enjoyable weekend, and what could be a personal turning
point.
Practical
work is demonstrated and taught in simple units along with associated body
energy work. The theoretical basis for each unit is presented clearly and
entertainingly.
CranioSacral
Therapy was originated, and continues to be developed after 26 years, by
American Osteopathic Physician Dr John E Upledger DO, OMM, who has taken
the work of Dr W G Sutherland, discoverer of cranial osteopathy,
researched it with the help of other scientists, and developed from it a
system of whole-person therapy which is safely learned and applied by
practitioners having sensitivity of touch and good intention.
Dr
Upledger has also designed and developed a training programme which
accommodates students with wide-ranging commitments and learning rates.
The training programme is based around intensive workshops, taught by
Upledger Institute Certified Instructors, that may be taken over a time
span (normally not less than 18 months) to suit the individual student.
