What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a way of bringing relaxation, balance and healing through the working of points on the hands, feet, face and ears. It is a very ancient way of healing and has been practiced by many civilizations – the Egyptians, Chinese and Native American Indians to name but a few. Very specific techniques are used to apply the reflexology, in most cases, only to the feet.

According to Dr William Fitzgerald, one of the pioneers of modern reflexology, the body is divided into 10 zones and any blockages or congestion within these zones can be alleviated with reflexology healing. The Chinese theory of meridians, the Indian theory of chakras, and many other 'theories' are also involved in reflexology healing.

What is Iyisana Reflex Therapy?

In modern times, reflexology has become synonymous with being applied to the feet only, with hand reflexology being accepted slowly; whilst ear reflexology is hardly used and facial reflexology is virtually unknown, being very new to this country.

At the Iyisana School of Natural Ways you will be guided into being able to work the reflexes of the feet, hands, face and ears, with equal skill, using many different techniques in order to meet the very individual needs of your clients. Some of the techniques you will be taught are normally classified as ‘advanced’ and taught at post-graduate level.

Iyisana Reflex Therapy will allow you to make specific and intuitive choices for your clients, incorporating many different facets of the harmonics of natural healing, in order to meet their very particular healing needs, thereby working in a truly holistic manner. It is my increasing belief that the very best treatment involves applying reflexology in a combination of ways, eg feet and face, feet and hands, hands and face, etc.  The variety of techniques taught will again mean more choice for your client, but will also mean that you as an individual have the opportunity to develop your own preferred way of working, according to your own natural healing abilities.
